The Relationship Between Control and Letting Go

Painting often exists between two opposing forces: control and letting go.

​

Control provides structure. It guides decisions about composition, color, and balance. Without it, the work can lose direction.

​

At the same time, letting go allows the painting to evolve beyond initial expectations. It introduces unpredictability — moments that cannot be planned.

​

In my process, these two elements are constantly shifting. At times, I focus on refining small details. At other moments, I step back and allow the work to unfold more freely.

​

This balance is never fixed. It changes from one painting to another.

​

Through this dynamic, the work gains both clarity and vitality — a structure that holds space for something unexpected to emerge.
