Traces of Time in a Painting

Every painting carries traces of time.

Layers build upon one another, each holding a record of decisions, adjustments, and moments of reflection. Some layers remain visible, while others are hidden beneath the surface.

These traces are not always obvious. They exist quietly, shaping the depth and character of the work.

In my practice, time is an essential part of the process. A painting may develop over several sessions, with pauses in between. These intervals allow the work to settle and transform.

Returning to a painting after time has passed often brings a new perspective. What once felt unresolved may begin to find its place.

In this way, the painting becomes more than a single moment. It becomes a collection of moments — layered, connected, and held within the surface.
