Why I Work with Oil and Acrylic Maker
Materials shape the language of a painting. In my work, the combination of oil paint and acrylic marker allows two different qualities to meet on the same surface.
Oil paint creates depth. Its slow drying time allows colors to blend, shift, and develop subtle transitions. This quality gives the painting a sense of atmosphere and quiet movement.
Acrylic markers, on the other hand, bring immediacy. The marks appear as countless small dots, more direct and spontaneous, like fragments of visual thoughts. These marks create contrast against the softness of the oil layers.
Together, these materials form a dialogue between fluidity and precision. The surface becomes a place where painting and drawing coexist.
This combination also reflects my interest in balancing structure and intuition. While the painted layers build the emotional field of the work, the drawn lines introduce rhythm, energy, and sometimes a sense of mystery.
