an intimate art space by Nanna Tamara
Working in Silence
Silence plays an essential role in my studio practice.
Before beginning a painting, I often take a moment to settle into the space. This quiet preparation allows thoughts to slow down, making room for a more intuitive approach.
While working, the absence of noise creates a different kind of awareness. Each movement becomes more noticeable. Each mark carries more intention.
This silence is not empty. It holds a certain presence — something that cannot be fully explained, but can be felt.
Over time, this environment shapes the work itself. The paintings begin to reflect the same quiet atmosphere in which they were created.
Perhaps this is why viewers sometimes experience a sense of stillness when encountering the work — a quiet space within the visual language of the painting.
